</Warning>

**Step 1:** Navigate to the drivers tab.

\
**Step 2:** Click ‘New Driver’.

**Step 3:** Give your new driver a name, and category if necessary. <br />

**Step 4:** Select the unit of measure you would like this driver to calculate.

<Note>
  If you select "currency" as unit of measure, you will need to specify which currency. To add/remove currencies from this list, visit [forecast settings](/modelling/settings/organization-settings/forecast-configurations).
</Note>

Your new driver will appear within the drivers tab, but at this point it will not contain any values. Next, we need to add forecasts.

### Forecast on a Driver

Click on your driver to begin adding forecasts.

\
Click ‘New Forecast’.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/pluvo-02a06e95/0FuIyQcO0nALAUMz/images/modelling/HKSQe3d9hPN59tljaxGV.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=0FuIyQcO0nALAUMz&q=85&s=12ea156b15a9415d6d0b5d1fb6967cd6" alt="" width="2290" height="1276" data-path="images/modelling/HKSQe3d9hPN59tljaxGV.png" />

Ensure that you select an accurate start date for this Forecast, so that it drives the forecast.

<Note>
  The Forecast type can either be constant, growing, aggregation, or formula. These types all follow the same mathematical logic seen in the metric knowledge articles and beyond.
</Note>

Learn more about forecasting in [Metrics](/modelling/features/variables/metrics), [Variables](/modelling/features/variables), [Formulas](/modelling/concepts/formulas), and [Forecasting](/modelling/archive-keep-hidden/archived-pages/forecasting).

### Manual entry forecasts

You can also create forecasts on drivers by entering values directly into the grid, much like you would in a spreadsheet.

<img src="https://mintcdn.com/pluvo-02a06e95/0FuIyQcO0nALAUMz/images/modelling/xut4Lfeu8CXPcsMeijrD.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=0FuIyQcO0nALAUMz&q=85&s=7ecb02543042cb4fa6e4cc05e28f1724" alt="" width="1718" height="926" data-path="images/modelling/xut4Lfeu8CXPcsMeijrD.png" />

To create a manual entry forecast, simply double-click on a cell, type in the new value, and press enter.

<Note>
  Note that due to time-aggregation methods, manual entry forecasts are only available when the grid is set to monthly view.
</Note>

If there was already a forecast affecting that cell, pluvo will split the forecast into two new forecasts to ensure that past / future months are preserved. You can view and edit these new forecasts by visiting the driver detail screen for the affected variable.
